So many good news for 2019! Julie and Kelly both successfully defended their thesis and graduated. They are both starting PhD programs in their dream schools! Dan received a travel grant to participate the International Cassiopea Workshop, and a honorable mention for NSF GRFP. Bridget received the World Congress of Malacology travel award to present her cool work on snail gut microbiomes. Ruiqi received a grant from the Conchologists of America and the Lerner-Gray Fund for Marine Research to support his fieldwork in Guam. He also received the Peterson Elites Fellowship to support his PhD for three years! Jingchun received a three-year NSF grant to study shrimp-parasite interactions. Go lab!

Julie awarded NSF fellowshipCongratulations to Julie Byle, a graduate student in the Li lab, for receiving the prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship! The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based graduate degrees. Julie aims to apply interpretive, quantitative, and social practice theories to biological/STEM education and create the next generation of science education standards.
